As is tradition, the annual “Remembering The Sights & Sounds of Euclid Beach Park” event was recently held on the final Sunday of September, which once marked the end of the amusement park’s season. This was the first major public event organized by Euclid Beach Park Now since I stepped into the role of Vice President of the organization, as well as the largest display to date of my personal memorabilia collection! The weather was fantastic, and attendance was great for the main event as well as the vintage car show.
Please be sure to watch the full video walkthrough of my display at the bottom of this post!
New items to my display at this event included a direction sign and a souvenir pearl ring from Geauga Lake’s Wildwater Kingdom (Formerly Sea World), paper fortunes from Shady Lake Park, and a souvenir porcelain doll from Conneaut Lake Park. I also displayed a detailed map showing the original locations of Euclid Beach Park’s attractions, as well as two recent additions to my collection which relate to other memorable Cleveland-area places: a 1970s Cleveland Press newspaper delivery box, and marquee letters from the Mayland Theater. Those marquee letters, along with my Euclid Beach Park shooting gallery targets and Wildwater Kingdom restroom signs, were displayed with photos showing them in their original locations for the first time.
I was also fortunate enough to be able to borrow an original operator’s lever from the Thriller roller coaster from Euclid Beach Park Now’s archives to display alongside the original operator’s phone which I acquired earlier this year! I also received two contributions for my collection (never expected but always welcome) during the day’s festivities: A vintage newspaper article about Chippewa Lake Park, and a Geauga Lake t-shirt from the park’s final (2007) season!

I have much gratitude for all of the local organizations, businesses, and volunteers who contributed to this wonderful celebration of Euclid Beach Park. It was a very memorable occasion, and I feel honored to have had the opportunity to once again share my collection as a major part of it!
